Kite Time

Posted by Picasa

With all of the wind in Kansas and a large open field behind the house, and did I mention a Dad who loves to fly kites (12 years of marriage, who knew?), we have spent a great deal of time outside. As kids we had the cheapo plastic hard to fly kites where you got a ton of exercise trying to get the darn thing in the air. Remember riding your bike trying to get it in the air.

Well not these days. We picked up an "Easy Flier" Kite from Amazon, and I can only think of the "We used to walk six miles uphill in the snow to get to school when we were kids" type of story. Kids today do not get enough exercise, and with great inventions like this, they never will.

We took this thing outside and let out 10 yards of string, and Hunter literally tossed it up into the air. No kidding. Grace and Jack absolutely loved it. The kite went on a little adventure on its second flight. Grace just let go of the string and this thing took off, and eventually got caught up in some trees. So there was Hunter up in the trees, trying to get it out. It reminded me of some fun times as a kid. After about 45 minutes and numerous scratches he managed to get it free, minus about 100 yds. of string. Good times.
